Although there are still a few weeks of summer left, and for those of us in California summer goes well into September, fall has definitely arrived in the retail world. Sweaters and jackets are everywhere in magazines and stores. It got me to thinking about my favorite fall look – dark denim.
There are 4 dark denim pieces that should be in every man’s wardrobe. Of course, the jeans themselves, a vest, a shirt and, last but not least, a denim jacket. If you want a classic American jean at a reasonable price, there’s nothing like the Levi 511, which I talked about here a few weeks ago. You might be questioning the vest but, believe me, I get a lot of use out of mine. If you can’t find a vest you like or, if you like a more casual look like I do, try buying a fitted denim jacket like this Gap 1969 Heritage Denim jacket and cutting off the sleeves. It’s a great way to put your personal stamp on the look. A dark denim motorcycle vest like this one is also a great investment. I especially love my dark denim vest over a classic white t.
Mixing different denims is a huge trend these days for women and I like it for men as well. It’s casual cool at it’s best. But, whatever denim you choose, the important thing is to wear it with confidence.
Whenever I wear my dark denim, I always get compliments. It’s classic american fashion and can be dressed up or down. Dark denim is like the perfect woman, you can take it anywhere.
