I’ve never been to Comic Con until this year when I was lucky enough to style Hugh Jackman for the appearance he made there for The Wolverine. It’s an experience I will never forget.
The Comic Con convention has grown into a massive fan fest for all types of movies and television shows. I got a total rush from the camaraderie between the fans as they swarmed the convention center.
Personally, my favorite show is Breaking Bad and the actors from that show did a panel at Comic Con, which was fantastic. So much fun. In fact, I even rode the elevator of my hotel with Aaron Paul from the show. I hadn’t seen him in a year since I groomed him for a GQ photo shoot. Comic Con has gotten so big that you can run into just about anyone there.
If you’ve never been to San Diego, it’s worth the trip even without Comic Con. It’s such a beautiful and clean beach city. Downtown San Diego was AMAZING. I hate to say it but it’s much better than the downtown Los Angeles scene. Of course, these days I don’t get out much in Los Angeles with a wife and 2 kids!
I stayed at the Hard Rock and I highly recommend it, especially if you’re in the mood for a little rock ‘n roll nostalgia. You can never go wrong with that hotel. It’s edgy fun, a total party environment, which suites the mood of the convention perfectly.
